Summer Vacation 2014: Part 1

Wyatt and I spent a week down South, splitting our time between Savannah and Charleston.  Our road trip started out with some set backs, but we finally made it to Savannah by about 10:30 p.m.  We made it to Savannah just in time to experience extreme heat with heat index  for our first day exploring topping out at 107 degrees! We stayed at the Kehoe House Bed and Breakfast.

We enjoyed walking around the historic squares, river front, and a stroll through Forsyth Park.  We lucked out because we were in town just in time for Restaurant Week.  We took advantage of that and had a nice dinner at Vic's on the River.
We also toured the Owens-Thomas House and the Telfair Art Museum where we saw the Bird Girl
statue.  The statue was made famous by the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.  We also walked by the Mercer Williams house which is featured in the movie of Midnight in the Garden of
Good and Evil.  Before we hit the road for Charleston for the second half our vacation, we drove out to Tybee Island for lunch at the Crab Shack.
Check back for a recap of the second half of our trip later in the week!
