Wedding Wednesday: Our Wedding!

Fair warning: this will be a long post with many pictures! We had the best day ever back on April 27th.  We got married at Alumni Hall in the Union on campus at Indiana University. Thanks to Wyatt for seeing to it that we got married in one of my dream wedding locations. It truly was a dream of a day.

We had an amazing vendor team. I will post more about later and include as many product and services vendors as I can because we really lucked out with some great experiences. Each of them made everything so easy and ensured our day was perfect.  We cannot express enough gratitude for our dear friend, Kahli, who ended up going far and above what we had asked of her and making sure everything was perfect.  We will be forever grateful to her and everything she did for us and for our family on that day!

We had our rehearsal on Friday evening followed by a rehearsal dinner at Grazie and drinks at Nick's after.  The next morning the girls and I were at the salon bright and early to start our day.  I chose a salon that has an entire bridal/event suite for groups. It was the perfect setup and we loved all the staff.

The forecast for the day was not promising for afternoon.  We pushed our timeline up and worked in the moment to get photos done.  We managed to get them outside even with some rain and they are gorgeous! If you remember our engagement photos, you may also remember how much we adored our photographer.  Rebecca was amazing to work with throughout the entire process.  We can't recommend her enough to anyone who is in need of a photographer!

We hired a string quartet from the Jacobs School of Music at IU (fun fact: I got a music studies minor from the Jacobs School) for our ceremony and they were great! We had some non-traditional requests and they came through for us! Seating of the family and bridesmaids processional was set to Mazzy Star's Fade Into You.  I walked down the aisle to Bright Eyes' First Day of My Life (a song Wyatt sent me wayyy back in 2012) and they played the White Stripes' Fell In Love With a Girl for the recessional song.  I was a ball of tears the entire way down the aisle but somehow managed to pull it together to say my vows.  Wyatt and I wrote our own vows and not shockingly they were very similar.

We chose to have our wedding cake created in house by the IU catering department.  We gave our IMU weddings contact a few ideas and she worked with them to create a work of art! We had very different preferences on cakes so we met in the middle and end up with a truly unique cake that was inspired by Spanish tile in a nod to our honeymoon destination.  We also included a simplified version of our crest and monogram.  We also chose to use a travel theme since travel is something we very much love and try to do often.  Instead of table numbers, we used table cities.  Each city was a place we had traveled to together, with the exception of Madrid and Barcelona.  We crossed those two off our list on the honeymoon.  Favors for our guests doubled as their place card and were miniature globes filled with candy.
