Jonny Lang + Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band

We started an 8 day stretched that is jammed packed with concerts!  We started at the Star Plaza in Merrillville with this one.  Next week we have Ed Sheeran in Indianapolis with my friends on Thursday and then the ROLLING STONES on the 4th of July at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (sort of with my family--our tickets are in a different section but we'll all be there). It will be epic.

I finally had the chance to see both, Jonny Lang and Kenny Wayne Shepherd, again.  The two of them are on a co-hiding tour and had a stop in Merrillville, IN.  This was the first time I have seen either one of them without my dad by my side, but he was off on a trip out west with my mom.  I did, however, manage to get Wyatt to come along with me.  It was his first blues concert.

We forewent the opener in order to have a quick dinner at Portillo's.  We arrived just in time for Jonny's set.  It was my 9th time seeing Jonny over the years.  His sound has changed over time but he sure can play a mean guitar.  The set as a whole was a lot slower/more laid back than I prefer from him but it was still good nonetheless.  During one 10 or 12 minuter version of a song, he played what was probably the most impressive guitar solo I have ever seen him play.

The Kenny Wayne Shepherd band came out next. They were so good.  I was most excited for Wyatt to see these guys and see Kenny play.  They played all my favorites and ended with an awesome rendition Voodoo Child.
