On our way back to the house, we stopped for a late lunch at Corey's Grilled Cheese. Allison and I both opted to create our own by getting pimento cheese and provolone on sourdough bread. It was one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches I have had. Dad got the Downtown which was brie and chevre, fig spread, apple, and fried onions on sourdough. Mom got Cory's Famous which was muenster cheese, bacon, and honey dijon on cinnamon raisin swirl bread. We also got a basket of fresh kettle chips with honey mustard to share. Everything was great! We had our dinner party in that night. The next day we had some rain and ended up just hanging out most of the day after lunch because of the weather and people feeling under the weather. After lunch, Wyatt and I were going to take a bike ride but it started really raining by the time we made it back out of our neighborhood so I turned around and went back. Wyatt insisted on continuing on and rode around in the rain.
Sad this is the only picture I have while wearing my 'On Vaca' sweater. |
After that Wyatt and I drove into downtown to kill some time before meeting up with the rest of my family. We HAD to stop by the Pineapple Fountain. We did a quick visit to the fountain and the park and then toured the City Gallery which is right at the park's edge. After that we were starting to get hungry so we went and got lobster rolls from a food truck we had been seeing all week that we noticed downtown that day.
We met up with my family to tour the Edmonston-Alston House on Bay Street. We had never toured any of the houses in the city so it was nice to get a little insight to what those have been like over the years.
After that we walked around some of the historic district before splitting up. Allison and I needed to finish getting our Christmas gift for mom so the two of us and Wyatt went back to city market. Allison had found a bracelet we had wanted to get my mom well before our trip but it sold out pretty quickly online. Wyatt and I checked in the shop she had found them online while my parents and her had lunch that day before we met up and found out the shop was also completely sold out. We had noticed some other rice bead jewelry in the City Market so we decided to go in search of a bracelet there. We were successful! On our way back to the house we decided to stop by a bakery we had found online before our last trip to Folly, Sugar Bakeshop. First of all, it's an adorable shop. Second, the sweets were amazing! I got a couple of cupcakes but I honestly wanted one of each and everything I saw.
Wyatt and I got dinner from Chico Feo and took it to go for our last meal. We both got the Pho which was so tasty! I could use some of that on this chilly day. I would say we got up and hit the road bright and early the next morning but it was still dark out when we left for the Hoosier state. I really enjoyed yet another family vacation and another trip to my favorite city.
