Mini Summer Vacation: Traverse City

On July 4th we hit the road from Detroit (Auburn Hills) to Traverse City.  Wyatt found us a great Air BnB to stay in for the night just outside of Traverse City.  It was secluded in an off the beaten path area. It was such a great apartment and Ellen and Larry were wonderful hosts!  Wyatt already wants to book with them again later this year.  Once we got all checked in there, we drove into town.  After a quick stop to drop something off, we headed towards the water and walked along the bay.  Then we went downtown to kill some time before our dinner reservations.  We stumbled upon the Little Fleet and Traverse City's food truck lot.  We decided to have a snack/appetizer and drinks while we waited for our dinner reservations later in the evening.  I got a tempura shrimp sushi roll and Wyatt got a green chorizo street taco.

We had dinner at Georgina's.  Could there be a better restaurant for Wyatt and me than a fusion restaurant that labels themselves as authentic Asian and Latin taqueria?  I tried the peanut Thai and Wyatt ordered one of the Latin inspired dishes.  After dinner we quickly ran back to the room so I could change into something a bit warmer before we went back to town for the fireworks.  We watched the fireworks from a less crowded Sunset Park.

The next morning we got up and drove into town to have brunch at Patisserie Amie.  We had a little bit of a wait before we were seated so we took a stroll along the Boardman River which was just behind the restaurant.  When we got back, I ordered the omelet ratatouille and Wyatt ordered the Parisian sandwich and we split the crepe Georgette.  I tend to be weary of ordering omelets because for some reason I never have any luck and just get mediocre or less than mediocre omelets.  I took the chance on this one and was not disappointed!  It was so good!
