Day Trip: Bloomington

A few weeks ago, I mentioned to Wyatt that we hadn't been to Bloomington all summer.  We decided we'd make a day trip soon.  While we were at it we would go ahead down to Orange County to visit my Papaw too since we hadn't been to visit him since May.  So on Saturday we started out early so we could visit Papaw mid-morning.  It's a three hour drive to his house from ours so we were thrilled with gorgeous weather and not much traffic.
View from Papaw's driveway is one of my favorites.

We had lunch in Paoli at the Lost River Co-Op with my parents before making our way to Bloomington.  We found parking right near Kirkwood and made a few stops in stores along Kirkwood before having a drink at Kilroys.  I'm sure I have mentioned before how much I loved Kilroys on Kirkwood so it is always on our must do list when we spend time in Bloomington.  After our beer, we walked up to campus.  There is nothing prettier than the IU Bloomington campus....nothing.  I love it so much.  This visit I decided I wanted to go to the top of Ballantine because I had never been past the 4th floor. The view of campus up there is incredible!

I had several big lectures in Ballantine just down the hall from where this picture was taken.
After going to the top of Ballantine we made our way back over to Teter.  We met there ten years ago when we both lived in Teter Rabb.  I lived on the first floor and Wyatt lived on the third floor along with some of my favorite boys at IU.  I made the best group of friends on Rabb 1 and we were lucky to have such cool guys just a couple floors above us.  After Teter, we headed back to the car and then we had dinner at Nick's!  Wyatt had never had Sink the Biz fries so I forced him to try them.  Word on the street is that he's never played Sink the Biz either. We'll have to try that on a night we're staying in town.

Found my old mailbox.
It was such a gorgeous afternoon, we were sad to leave that evening but we're already making plans to return for a soccer game soon! Back in the day, we happened to attend a soccer game together as friends.  And if you've made it this far here is a nice little side by side.  We explore campus every time we get the chance and I'm constantly amazed at discovering new things but some of our favorites are photo ops that we often return to time and time again.  Our very first picture as a couple after a few months of dating was in front of the Sample Gates when we met in Bloomington for a weekend in 2012 and I've been making him get them ever since then because it's my favorite spot on campus. Below is another of my faves.  I just love this old bench!
