Washington, DC: Part Two

After such a warm and sunny day on Saturday of our trip, it was cooler and dreary on Sunday.  We started our morning as we start every morning while staying in Arlington...with Bayou Bakery.  I had beignets Sunday! Then we took the metro across and began our day of bopping around the city.  Our first destination was the Watermelon House! On our way there we walked through Logan Circle and some cute and quaint neighborhoods.  We had a few murals on our list to try to see but due to user error we wound up in the wrong location after the first stop.  We walked through the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial and made our way back to the Metro to go in search of lunch.  We stopped by Indiana Plaza on our way because the tulip trees were gorgeous! We ended up having lunch at DCity Smokehouse. I had a brisket sandwich! It was so good and the place was so cute!  We made our way over to the Adams Morgan neighborhood and wandered around a bit.  We stopped for cupcakes at the Cakeroom before we found a Metro and headed back to Arlington.  We ordered pizza and salads in that night because we were all exhausted!

On our last day, it was cold! We decided to take in another museum that morning to stay indoors as much as possible.  Once we made our way into the city, we stopped at Astro Doughnuts to get their cherry blossom donut. It was so good! If only I had one right now! After donuts, we made our way to the Hirsshorn Museum. My favorite part of this museum was one of the video installation in the exhibit, The Message: New Media Works.  I also really enjoyed the Brand New: Art and Commodity of the 1980s. After the museum, we had lunch at Shake Shack! I have to get my shack burger and cheese fries when I get the chance!
