Wedding Wednesday: Menu Tasting

Last week we met with our venue to do our menu tasting.  I think this was one of Wyatt's favorite tasks so far!  It was a gloomy day but it was still so pretty on campus.  We cannot get over how gorgeous IU is year round.  It was surprisingly easy for Wyatt and I to agree on what we would sample at our tasting and making the final food selections was a breeze.  We were able to sample around 6 hors d'oeuvres.  They were all amazing and that was the most difficult decision to make of the entire tasting.

We got to have our tasting in the KP Williams Room on the 3rd floor of the IMU.  It was so pretty. Everything we had was so delicious.  In the end we went with a garlic and herb rubbed top round of beef with a mushroom sauce, grilled chicken with  roasted red pepper cream, and eggplant parmesan. I know everyone always tells you that the couple doesn't even really get a chance to eat but I am still excited for the food.  Eggplant parmesan is oddly one of my favorite entrees even thought I didn't try eggplant until I was an adult!

We also got to have fun with the cake tasting.  We chose three cakes, three icings, and 3 fillings and had a build your own cake bar of sorts.  We discussed our vision for our cake and we are so excited to see and taste how it all turns out!  We also chose things like table linens and went over our vendors and timelines with our event contact.

After our tasting meeting, we stopped in the Biddle Hotel and checked out a few things with our room block and toured the suite we will be using to get ready in on the big day. They have updated the hotel since we have stayed there last and I just love all the little IU touches throughout.
