Christmas and Birthday Celebrations

We quarantined and got negative Covid tests in order to be able to spend an entire weekend with my family in southern Indiana in early December. It was the first time we had visited maskless, indoors, and for longer than a few hours since before the pandemic and it was everything! It was much needed and a great Christmas indeed! We were so busy enjoying being together, we didn't even take any pictures!

On Christmas Eve, we spent the afternoon/evening with Wyatt's parents and grandma. We had a great dinner and family time. We have been playing cards and games with them recently and spent a few more afternoons and evenings over there enjoying having so much family time with the both of us off from work the week between Christmas and New Year's.

On Christmas morning I made us our own biscuit bar! I tried to make Loveless Cafe biscuits from one of their mixes but turns out it was expired and they did not rise. Luckily we did have some Grands on hand. It wasn't the same but better than no biscuits! We had an assortment of jams, honeys, mustards, pickles, and pimento cheese to go with our ham and biscuits.  I used my mom's old Christmas Ivy Corelle dishes for our table settings.  We watched Elf together and just had a lazy day at home with just the two of us.  Wyatt had plans to cook a feast for us but we ended up getting Chinese takeout for dinner and he made our duck meal the next night. It was so good! I wish I could share it with you.

We had waffles and spent some more time with Wyatt's family on the morning of his birthday.  We came home mid-afternoon to avoid the nasty weather and just relaxed.  I surprised him with a Milkbar cake which went well with the gift of a virtual Momofuku cooking class!

It has been the best to spend so much time with my family and Wyatt's family this holiday season. This year has been tough and any time we get with our loved ones is cherished time.
