Getting Into the Christmas Spirit Early

It's been a long, strange year so I talked Wyatt into getting the tree out a little early this year. I needed extra cheer ASAP. The Christmas season is one of my favorites so I was ready to get it started.  We have a TV where our tree used to go so we moved its location this year and I loved how it made the room feel. I put together a small snack plate for us and we turned on Christmas music to decorate the tree this weekend! Maggie is doing better with the tree so far this year! Cross your fingers she continues to be good around the tree. She has even been starting to lay under it like Sox used to do! I didn't stop with just the tree. I spruced up our bar cart and got out all my holiday mugs!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Wyatt and I put up most of our decorations in the house this weekend. I must say, I absolutely love it when our house is all decorated.  I put mini trees up in our bedroom and our guest bedroom which I don't have pictures of yet but I'm sharing some of our living room décor today.  We have combined our different tastes to come up with this ever evolving Christmas tree.  I have some of the department store Christmas tree elements and he has all the traditional nostalgic ornaments.  We actually use a fair amount of ornaments and items that were passed down to us from other family members.  It makes the tree special and a great way to remember some lost loved ones.  We've also been using one of my parents very first tree toppers ever since we moved in together!

I always wanted a mantle to decorate and then I didn't know what to do with it once I got one.  I finally found something that I enjoy with the nutcrackers and the village houses!

I love this table in our house so much! First of all, it's a great piece.  Then you add in all the pictures of our dear loved ones and it just adds up to one of my favorite parts of the house.  I enjoy giving it a mini Christmas makeover.

This snuggly guy loves laying under the Christmas tree and quickly found his place under the lighted tree once I finished our new tree skirt!

Christmas Wrap Up

The holidays are always a crazy time for everyone.  This year was no less hectic than ever but I still managed to fully deck my apartment.  We may not have been able to follow through completely with our Christmas activity advent calendar but there was still plenty of Christmas cheer to go around.  We enjoyed a fun, jam-packed couple of days at Christmas with family.  I had to work until noon on Christmas Eve, but after that Wyatt and I had a light lunch and celebrated our Christmas together before going to his parents' house for the Cash family Christmas that evening.  The next morning we got up bright and early and got ready to hit the road.  We traveled to Orange County where we had both an Easterday Christmas at lunch and a Condra Christmas in the afternoon.  We finally made it home for Christmas that night with my family.  To cap off the Christmas season, we came back to Lafayette on the day after Christmas for a Christmas with our friends.  There was no shortage of yummy food, good company, and Christmas cheer!

'Tis the Season

Now that Thanksgiving has came and gone, it's officially Christmas season.  Last week I delivered some Christmas cookies off to Nashville for the Christmas season and helped my parents with their photo shoot for their Christmas card.  I even got in on the action for a snap or two.

On Thursday morning I drove up to Lafayette for Thanksgiving with Wyatt's family and stayed through the weekend.  Lots of lunches, family, and friends.  It was a great long weekend.  

Now that Turkey day has passed, it's officially acceptable to go all out with Christmas decorations, music, etc.  My room is not quite ready for my Christmas tree so I started with just a few things: a banner, my nutcracker, and I switched out my vanity stand top for the holiday in preparation for my company Christmas party this weekend.  I designed and printed a new print to fill my frame on it, added a gold poinsettia to my bud vase, and added one of my Anthropologie inspired snow globes.

The month of December is so busy, but I hope y'all get to enjoy it.  I know I am going to savor every moment of the holiday season.  It just seems so special, don't you think?

Just playing around in Photoshop...I guess I really should be finishing the blog, but this is so much fun. I downloaded a lot of Christmas digital scrapbooking stuff last week. I can't wait to make some fun stuff with it.

I'm looking forward to my weekend off from work. I plan on cleaning my room (which I'm sure my parents are happy to hear) and snuggling under the covers while I work on this and photo editing/creating. It is supposed to be warm in comparison to our temps today and tomorrow, but we are actually supposed to get some snow. Nothing like snuggling up with some hot cocoa when it's snowing outside. I have also decided that I think I want to make/participate in the 101 in 1001 trend that is happening out there. I am not sure what all I am going to put on my list, but once I have it complete I will put it up on here. I'll be sure to check in with updates. I can't wait until I can manage to accomplish all my ideas for the blog and my tumblr. I am going to change the way/things I post over on it. (Let's face it, tumblr is in major need of drastic maintenance before that can happen! They are having some serious issues...I guess this blog had perfect timing!)
