John Butler Trio

After a series of events and multiple sets of tickets purchased (for three different cities), we finally found ourselves a John Butler Trio concert in Grand Rapids on Sunday evening.  JB3 is Wyatt's favorite so he was pretty excited to get another chance for a concert.  Since this one was on a Sunday, it started at 6:30 and was over just before 10 o'clock which was helpful since we had a little over a 3 hour drive home. The concert was at the amphitheater at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park.  It was so neat.  We hope to go back some day when we can explore and enjoy it.

It was a sold out show and we didn't get there until the opener was already on stage so our options were limited for seating.  From our first spot, we couldn't really see the band because of the stack of speakers.  We both walked around a bit during a couple of songs to get a better view.  Eventually some families near us started leaving early and we were able to move over to have a good view.  The set was just great!

Congratulations Catherine and Craig!

This weekend we drove up to northern Indiana and Michigan to attend one of my favorite childhood friends' wedding! Catherine and I have been friends since junior high school.  We haven't seen each other as much as I would like over the years but it was so great and refreshing to pick up like no time had passed.  Catherine and Craig had a beautiful ceremony at a church in Michigan City, Indiana.  We then went up the road a bit just into Michigan for a gorgeous vineyard reception! We had such a lovely time getting to catch up with old friends and meeting new people at this reception! Congratulations Catherine and Craig!

Summer Mini Vacation: Brand New and Modest Mouse

Brand New

Wyatt bought concert tickets to the co-headlining concert of Brand New and Modest Mouse and that is how we determined our vacation would take us to Michigan.  Brand New has been one of Wyatt's favorite bands for years and it has been a long time since he has seen them so he was so excited for this concert.  The concert was at DTE Energy Music Theater in Auburn Hills, MI.  Modest Mouse played the first set.

Brand New played an excellent second set that ended with a four song encore.  Their screens also ominously displayed the image that read Brand New 2000 - 2018.  Wyatt was not so thrilled to see that and realize that one of his favorites might have an end date coming soon.
