Happy Father's Day...a little early.
June 11, 2011
Last night, my dad and I went to see the Black Keys at the Lawn at White River State Park in Indianapolis. The tickets were a gift to my dad for father's day. It was my first show at the Lawn and my second time seeing the Black Keys and my dad was the opposite...first time seeing the Black Keys and second time to that venue. I really enjoyed the openers, especially the first one. Nicole Atkins and the Black Sea were a pleasant little surprise. I love when openers are that way. I would definitely recommend giving her a listen.

After they finished their set, Booker T. Jones took the stage. I had no clue he was a fellow IU alum! Surely we learned that in History of Rock I, but I must have forgotten if we did. His set was really good too. I was so glad that he ended up coming out and playing a couple of songs with the Keys later in the night.
The Black Keys came out and play a great set. I was glad to see them in a completely different kind of venue than the first time I saw them. I was also glad that it was every bit as good as the first time I saw them in 2008. They played a lot of my favorites. I am not even sure which song or songs were my favorite of the night. Another perk to seeing them in a bigger setting was their light/stage show. I saw them in a bar previously and where they did have an impressive light show then, it was no gigantic disco ball or their name in lights. My dad put together some of the video he took from last night and I'm posting it below. He got some really good stuff. Enjoy!
