Ireland: Part Two

Here's part two from our trip to Ireland (part one here).  After we settled into the house in Dingle, we spent our first day on a little day trip to a town called Kinsale.  Kinsale is a charming port town in County Cork.  It had such cute shops in a picturesque little town.  We had lunch at the White House.  I absolutely adored the wallpaper in the room of the restaurant we were in for lunch.  We strolled through town and did some shopping before heading back to Dingle and going over Connor Pass on our way.  For dinner that night we went into town and ate at Danno's, a place recommended by rental contact.  I had another order of fish and chips!  The next day was spent on a trip to the Cliffs of Moher.  This is absolutely a must see if you ever find yourself in Ireland.  I do not care for heights so this one was a bit of a task for me, but I did manage to take in some of the sites before heading back down towards the gift shop. After a long day in the car we had dinner at Geaney's Bar and Restaurant in Dingle that night.

We spent the next day driving around the Dingle Peninsula and taking in the gorgeous views.  We saw a few beaches, a couple of movie filming locations (Far and Away & Star Wars), the Three Sisters, some beehive huts, Slea Head and more.  It is such a gorgeous area that even with grey, cloudy skies and wind it was beautiful to see.  We had lunch at the Stonehouse Restaurant.  The cold afternoon called for soup and warm apple pie! We meandered our way back to Dingle and had dinner that night at the Dingle Pub.  It was packed and had live music while we were there! I got a toasted ham, pineapple, and cheese that was listed as a light snack. It was huge!

We spent our last full day in Dingle walking around the town.  We started by walking around the harbor. It was a gorgeous day! We walked through the town stopping to shop at the little shops along the way.  Wyatt and I had lunch at Ashes Bar where I got my final order of fish and chips of the trip! That afternoon we met back up with my parents and we all went to the Dingle Brewing Company for a quick tour and pint.  Their Tom Crean's Lager was my favorite from the trip.  Wyatt and I had a nice date in town that evening at the Chart House.  We started dinner out with a duck leg appetizer.  He got the rack of lamb and I got the best fillet and potatoes.

On our last day in Ireland we traveled from Dingle back to Dublin.  We made a stop in Portlaoise for lunch.  We met up with Carol and Linda, the Irish Condras.  We had such a good time visiting with Linda and Carol and her husband. After a long visit, we made the remaining trek back to Dublin.  Dad returned the rental car and we called it a night.  Our flight home was bright and early the next morning.  We landed in Chicago mid afternoon and were back home in Lafayette by about 5:30 that evening.  We are so thrilled with our trip and experience in Ireland.  It's such a lovely country and we are glad we got to experience it with my parents.
