Today, I celebrated my 31st birthday. We made plans to meet up with my family in Indianapolis to celebrate not only my birthday, but my mom's and sister's March birthdays (they're two days apart!) as well since they're generously hosting bridal showers for me the weekend of their birthdays! I decided to start my day off by volunteering to work Teachers' Treasures' 2019 Circle City Donut Dash 5k. Teachers' Treasures is one of the JLI's community partners so I was thrilled with an opportunity to volunteer with some fellow JLI ladies. It was a cold morning but so fun to get to meet and know a couple of great ladies while helping out a great organization! You may know that my mom was a teacher for over 30 years. Teachers hold a special place in my heart, not only because of her, but because I had some amazing teachers in my life growing up. I also happen to have a few friends that are doing amazing things as teachers.
After the race was finished, I met up with my family and Wyatt. We had lunch at Big Woods in Speedway. Ironically, we at the Bloomington location last year for my birthday before Wyatt proposed! We had a nice lunch and stopped by Long's to grab some sweets for dessert before going back to Allison's for birthday gifts and to visit some more. My parents gave both Allison and I some family heirloom pieces as part of our gifts. I was lucky enough to receive an Uhl Pottery bowl that had been my Great Aunt Hazel's. My mother made sure that I knew that when my Aunt Hazel moved from her house to a smaller apartment, she was sure to take that bowl with her. I have already made a spot for it on our built in shelf. I love it so much!
We got home and spent some quality time with Maggie to end our night. It was a great day.
