Light the Night

After my fall festivities on Saturday, Allison and I had lunch and then I went and volunteered at Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Light the Night event in Indianapolis.  I was excited to get the opportunity to volunteer through Junior League.  After Andrew McMahon was diagnosed with a form of leukemia when I was in high school, I became aware of this event and followed what LLS has been doing for many years.  I have always wanted to participate in an Light the Night but never had one close or when I have had one close I have had conflicts.  So it was like the best of both worlds getting to volunteer alongside some ladies from Junior League and getting to help support this organization that I find to be truly worthy.  We helped serve pizza and drinks to participants at the Champions for Cures tent. It was a very moving ceremony when the lanterns were raised.  The white lanterns signified survivors.

This event was perhaps extra special given my dad's own fight with cancer this year.  It's not a blood cancer but a cancer nonetheless.
