IU vs. Purdue

I gave Wyatt tickets to the IU vs. Purdue basketball game for Christmas.  If you aren't familiar, there is a huge in-state rivalry between the two schools! Since it happened to be a weekend game, we went down early for lunch at Mother Bears and a stroll through campus.  It was almost 50 degrees and sunny and it's the end of January! We had to take advantage of that!

I was excited for the chance to wear my new Hillflint sweater that I got for Christmas from family as well! After hanging out for a bit, we made our way over to Assembly Hall! Definitely recommend buying a parking pass when going to games.  We're going to from here on out because it was nice and convenient and so much easier to get in and out! We got to see Victor Oladipo as he was recognized with a jersey from his days in the program.  The game ended up being a great game! We didn't pull off the upset but it was a close game for most of the game and we really did play well.  The opening 10-12 minutes were just really great ball to watch!

We decided we need to go to more games! We hadn't been to one in Bloomington together in 4 years!

March On

We're still dancing!  Today is game day for my beloved Hoosiers and I am pumped!  I've got my trusty IU earrings in and I am ready to cheer on the boys!

Wyatt gave me tickets to an IU basketball game as part of my Christmas present.  He picked me up from work on Tuesday and we headed down to Bloomington for the game against Wisconsin.  What a game! I had just been to a game right before Christmas, but it was a non-conference game and admittedly I did not pay as much attention as I probably should have.  But this game was so different.  It was just an awesome game to watch down to the last second.  We pulled off the victory, beating the No. 3 ranked team in the country.  The students went crazy and rushed the court at the end of the game.  The last time we had beaten Wisconsin was when I was in college.  Wisconsin was ranked 2nd then and the students rushed the court then as well.

The Big 2-5

Wyatt came to Washington and took me to Bloomington for the weekend of my birthday.  We watched the IU basketball game from Kilroys (my favorite old stomping ground!)--the breadsticks and long islands were just as good as I remembered!  We stayed in this adorable B&B and he took me to a fancy dinner at Restaurant Tallent.  We spent some time wondering around our favorite old spots and took the time to get a picture outside of Teter Rabb.

And we're not going away.

Happy March Madness to all!  That beloved time of year has finally arrived again.  For now, I'm only going to post this video.  I'll be back with more thoughts later but when my friend posted this video he posted it with the caption "No matter what your team does this March, it will not matter as much as what the Indiana Hoosiers have already done this year."  Those words really struck me.  It is so true. What our program has transformed into this season has surprised everyone.  I'm so happy for the progress shown and the promise and hope of even more brighter days ahead.


 

THIS IS INDIANA

Hoosierssssssssss win!!! I LOVE INDIANA UNIVERSITY!!!

This was a game to prove to those out there without faith in our team and program that WE ARE BACK!  That single game made the agonizing reality of the last three seasons completely worth it.  The old saying 'It has to get worse before it gets better,' must be true and those three seasons were surely the first part of the saying.  So far this season is on track to be the latter half of the saying.  I cannot say enough about how proud I am of my alma mater! Coming through the adversity of the aftermath of Kelvin, our future was in question.  Crean came in knowing that he could build a program that would do the University, the fans, and the game proud.  He struggled with the transition and as fans we struggled to keep the faith, but keep the faith I(and hopefully I can say we) did!  I was thrilled to see Crean come in with his enthusiasm for the game and what it means to us here in Indiana. I am also thrilled to see things starting to come together for him, his staff and the team...because that means it makes our role as fans a lot more enjoyable and our boys are winning some games!  Last night gave us something we'd been waiting for...something we knew was bound to happen and sooner rather than later.  As the time ticked down to those final seconds, I'll admit, my stress level was through the roof. Nail biter is definitely a good description! When it came down to that last shot by Christian, I screamed with joy when it went in! Immediately after as I watched the fans rush the floor in celebration, I began to get emotional.  I have never been so proud to be an Indiana Hoosier!



Growing up in Indiana, basketball has always been huge, especially with the Zeller brothers dominating for nearly ten years at my high school alma mater! Those boys taught my town to believe in what's truly special about basketball in Indiana.  Winning is something we're accustomed to down here now.  Each and every time one of the boys began to go through the college recruiting process, I hoped they'd join the Cream and Crimson....and finally the third and final brother did! Cody is making us unbelievably proud!

Go Hoosiers, Go!

Watching the team this year has definitely given me new hope.  I know the games have just been exhibition and non-conference games and there has not been a tremendous challenge just yet, but there is still hope.  This is the start of a definite turn around for the program.  We've weathered some difficult years amid scandal, coaching changes, and injuries but future is looking brighter and brighter.  One thing is for sure...the fans are getting their enthusiasm for the team and program back! Living (and growing up in) Southern Indiana, we need no excuse to cheer on our Hoosiers, but this year marks the start of a special season for us.  Thank goodness for Cody Zeller, bless you for choosing IU.  Now not only do I get to watch a local boy help bring the team back to greatness, all of my college friends that only knew about Washington because of the Zeller boys can finally leave me alone.  One of them finally chose the Cream and Crimson!  Cody is having a great start his freshman season so far! The first real test should be the upcoming Butler, NC State, and Kentucky games....and then its Big Ten conference play! Here we go!
