Stephen Kellogg & Sixers: Start the Day Early

"Start the Day Early" - Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers, Stephen Kellogg and the Sixers by foundations

For some reason I cannot stop listening to this song and this whole album really.  I forgot how much I loved it and Stephen.  This song is the perfect song for a summer drive.  Last fall his band decided to go on a hiatus.  In the meantime he has put together another album on his own that will be release in just a couple of weeks, June 18.  I love how he explains how the record came about in his personally written biography on his page (link above).  I love the new song, "Crosses," and cannot wait to hear the rest of the album!

Music Monday: Ryan Adams

Finally another Music Monday post.  This is one that I'm pretty excited about.  Yesterday NPR posted an article about Ryan Adams' upcoming release that also allows you to stream the entire album from their website!

The post talks about his range in musical genres and also the effects of his Meiniere's disease.  I have been listening to this album non-stop since I found the article.     After the departure from the signature RA that I love with the metal album, Orion, and the last release was a mix of songs from previous recording sessions and was so, so, I was weary of what to expect.

What I heard out of 'Ashes and Fire' is dead on for what I was hoping for out of this new album.  It is rather good.  I'm mildly in love with it, but you judge for yourself because I'm kind of impartial to RA.  Click through the picture to the NPR article and stream.

I am really hopeful that he'll make a tour stop in Indianapolis.  I would love the chance to hear some of this new material.

Happy listening,
