Music Monday: Summer Playlist

Even though I may not have the summer off like every year up 'til now, I still find the need to make a summer playlist (but who am I kidding? I can find about any reason to make a playlist). This summer's playlist is a mix of old and new. Some of the songs instantly take me back to past summer memories.  This one, unlike most that I make, has not been strategically arranged because I have yet to burn it to a disc.  While it's on my computer/ipod, it gets shuffled.  So, forgive me for the lack of thoughtful transitions and progressions.

  • OMC - How Bizzare
  • the Black Keys - Everlasting Light
  • Marc Broussard - Only Everything
  • Spoon - Got Nuffin
  • Maroon 5 - This Love
  • Gold Motel - Summer House
  • Third Eye Blind - Semi-Charmed Life
  • Blink 182 - What's My Age Again
  • I'm From Barcelona - Charlie Parker ((bonus pts if you know who Charlie Parker was without using Google))
  • Metric - Help I' Alive
  • Beirut - My Night With the Prostitute from Marseille
  • Yeasayer - Tightrope
  • Nicole Atkins - Vultures
  • Fuel - Shimmer
  • Animal Collective - My Girls
  • Lynyrd Skynyrd - Free Bird
How Bizzare reminds me of countless summer days spent at the city pool.  Semi-Charmed Life will always take me back to a summer vaca in Charleston, SC when I first heard the song.  Don't you just love songs like that? I do.  I get very nostalgic with songs sometimes.  Speaking of Third Eye Blind....I miss them. I don't know if I will ever get tired of their self-titled album.  It always puts me in a good mood and makes for great driving music in my opinion.

Jump past the break for a mix I made in high school one summer. (and yes, if I could find the case, I made a cover with sharpies)

Where I spend my evenings...

I spend some time outside on my front porch or my back patio each evening after work and/or after dinner.  Most night include a visit with the neighborhood cats, but some nights we just sit out there and talk.  There have been many nights spent on that front porch.  I was not home last summer to partake in the nightly ritual but this year my mom has finally got me my own chair for the front porch!  The following are what I see everyday....

Looking up from the patio.  We have a natural canopy from the trees.
