A Year in the Books!

I have officially been a Lafayette resident and an employee of Ivy Tech Community College for over a year now.  I cannot believe how fast a year has gone by!  Here's the run down of the last year.

I am still hopeless when it comes to streets in this town.  I know how to get everywhere I frequent but there are so many confusing streets and so many neighborhoods that I am not familiar with here.  Maybe in another year I can report back that I know a little more.   Aside from that, I am loving living here.  I have enjoyed getting to see my friends here on a regular basis!  I have also enjoyed having more than Bobe's, Mi Pueblo, and Hunan Garden as my options for dinners out (that one is for the Washington people still in my life, haha).  Sox has adjusted wonderfully to apartment living.  We love our apartment and have signed on to stay another year here.

On to the good stuff...my job.  I can say that I absolutely love my job, my boss, and my coworkers!  I have the most amazing boss and supervisor.  I could not have gotten luckier than to work for them in the Chancellor's Office.   I have become a pro at mastering the calendar as I handle calendaring for my boss (who happens to be one of the busiest people ever, I don't know how he does it!).  I help prepare for and take minutes at each of our Regional Board of Trustees meetings.  Our office has planned many events over the last year.  We spent about three months planning for when our region hosted the State Board of Trustees meeting last June.  Everything went flawlessly and we were proud of all our work (re: stress).  Last fall my region officially consolidated with another region and my boss assumed responsibility for both regions.  To say that it has been crazy since then is an understatement.  I love working for someone who has such a vision and drive to help give others a future through high education.  It makes going to work during the stressful times worth it.

Here's to another great year in Lafayette and at Ivy Tech!
