Summer Vacation 2014: Part 2

After Savannah, we drove over to Charleston for the remainder of the week/vacation.  Instead of taking the interstates, we opted for highways off the beating path.  On our way in, we stopped to check out the Angel Oak and boy am I glad we did.  The Live Oak is massive and just amazing to see.
After the Angel Oak, we drove over to Mt. Pleasant to check into our rental.  We used Airbnb to rent an apartment.  We stayed in a place right on Shem creek!  It had this amazing dock right out to the creek.  We loved the location and the owner was the nicest person.  We enjoyed watching sunset over the marsh with her on her back porch one evening.  Of course I made Wyatt go to Sticky Fingers on our first night in town.  It's a nostalgic favorite of mine.
We walked around the historic district in Charleston.  I seriously love that place so much.  So much history and beauty that I can walk around the streets for hours just admiring it all and not get bored.  We had rain one day so we decided to drive over to Folly Beach for lunch and to try to see the Morris Island Light.  Unfortunately about three quarters of the way on the path to the beach (which is down an old road that is no longer traveled by cars), it began to pour on us.  We made it to beach's edge, saw the lighthouse for a second, and darted back to car.

We had so many good eats on this trip.  We found this funky little dive bar, the Tattooed Moose, thanks to the guestbook in our apartment.  It was so delicious.  We also tried a new place to us, Prohibition, for our last meal there.  Oh my goodness, was it good.  We started with a duck quesadilla and then I got a Carolina Roll (blue crab and shrimp roll topped with fried oysters).  We tried Rita's on Folly Beach per the suggestion of one of my favorite bloggers, Megan from Holy City Chic.  I had the Southbound burger....a burger with pimento cheese!  We also made sure to eat at Hyman's Seafood.
