On the Go: Packing for a Music Festival on the Beach

On the Go: What I'm Packing for Hangout Festival

Wyatt and I are headed down to Gulf Shores for Hangout Fest this weekend and we are so excited to experience a new music festival together down on the beach!  Wyatt gifted me the festival tickets for Christmas.  We're staying in a condo on the beach and I can't wait to dig my toes into the sand and see some good music live!  Being the planner and packer that I am, I've been thinking about what to take for the last month or two.  Here are some of my top picks for what to pack for the beach music festival.

I am packing lots of lightweight pieces and a lot of sunscreen.  The forecast right now is calling for some rain/scattered storms.  Crossing my fingers for the best luck and only storms in the mornings, if at all.  It will be an adventure, I am sure.

Beach Walking

Oh my sweet Carolina

Allison and I embarked on our first road trip together over the weekend...to Charleston, SC.  It is kind of fitting that we took this trip over Memorial Day weekend, as we got our wanderlust from our Papaw Gib.  Maybe our trip honored his memory just a little bit.  The trip was pretty impromtu...with only planning a few days in advanced.  We drove part of the way Friday night, staying in Knoxville, TN for the night, and arrived to our destination around 2 the next day.  We had a late lunch first at my favorite restaurant, Sticky Fingers.  After our lunch, we walked around downtown.  We made a trip through the market, stopped by the famous pineapple fountain and did some shopping on King Street.  We opted to head out to the beach as the evening approached and traveled over to the beaches at Isle of Palm at dusk.

Saturday we got up and went back downtown for a walk along the battery and over to Rainbow Row.  Since we thought the weather might not be as favorable in the afternoon that day due to Tropical Storm Beryl, we decided to check out a plantation.  We went on a tour of Boone Hall & Plantation.  The weather turned out to be fairly nice all day with the exception of some crazy wind.  We drove over to Sullivan's Island and then back up to the outlets for a little shopping.  We ended our time in Charleston with a dinner at Sticky Fingers in Mt. Pleasant.  On Sunday we hit the road early and managed to make it through the car packed interstates and home by 9.

Here is a link to my Google+ album of all my pictures from the trip.

We wanted to recreate a picture from the last time we were there, but no one around to take the picture of us together so this is our picture with the Pineapple Fountain.

Can't rain on our parade

A rainy day at the beach won't stop our family. Our family photo shoot was just relocated to the Red Bar in Grayton Beach due to an uncooperative Mother Nature. It is my new favorite spot in Florida. I'm sure a good time was had there last night for New Year's Eve, as was evident by the left over confetti on the floor. It has a most interestingly decorated interior. I hope to return and would recommend it to those in the area.
