2 Years

I cannot believe it's been two years since we got married. It seems like a blink of an eye and we are here in some respects but after the last year it also seems like more than two years.  We celebrated by going out to dinner tonight. We cannot wait to see what year three has in store for us as we add to our family!

Wedding Wednesday posts here.

Happy 1st Anniversary!

Wow! I can't believe it's been a year since the most magical day, our wedding!  We had these grand plans to go see Jim James with the Colorado Symphony in a couple of weeks to celebrate our 1st anniversary and 8 years (!) together but Covid-19 has other plans for us. We thought seeing Jim James was very fitting given that he is the frontman to the band that headlined Forecastle and got us together 8 years ago! Had we still been planning to take that trip we likely would have just went out to dinner on our anniversary.  Again, we can't do that now either.  We decided to celebrate a couple days early so we could celebrate on Saturday night vs. Monday (even though we still had a nice homemade dinner on our actual anniversary courtesy of Wyatt).  I decorated in odes to our wedding and Wyatt picked up takeout from our favorite Thai restaurant.   I decorated our wet bar area with a balloon garland I made with supplies I had on hand.  I pulled out the milk glass, gold chargers, and some light blue similar to what we had at our wedding.  I also got some of our Evelyn Henson map prints out, Louisville, Bloomington, Madrid, and Barcelona to commemorate where we met/got married, Forecastle Festival, and our honeymoon and added our wedding crest.  After dinner we had our wedding cake and wine and danced to some songs from our wedding. Even though our plans got derailed, we still had a special and lovely anniversary.

I ordered our vows done in watercolor for Wyatt's 'paper' gift but didn't think they would arrive in time so I improvised.  I painted a watercolor from one of our wedding photos to give to him when we celebrated.  Luckily, the actual gift came on our actual anniversary! We have them both hanging on the gallery wall in our hallway no and I love seeing them and the guestbook all the time and remembering our wedding.

Happy Anniversary!

Happy anniversary to my parents! Today is their 41st wedding anniversary.  The irony is not lost on me that I picked the same wedding colors as my mom.  We have joked about my dad's powder blue tux for years.  Wyatt and I were supposed to have engagement photos taken today (very fitting) but the threat of bad weather and outdoor pictures did not go well together so they have been postponed!

Happy anniversary.  Love you guys!

Happy 40th Anniversary to my Parents!

My parents celebrated their 40th anniversary on August 7th.  Allison and I went home for the weekend (Wyatt stayed behind sick).  We visited my Papaw first after lunch at the new Mother Bears in Bloomington!  After our visit with Papaw, we all drove over to Spring Mill State Park to have a little picnic to celebrate.  My parents got married there in the garden so we thought it was a must visit.  We packed a little cheese board and some mini squash pies for the occasion.

I always love the view from my Papaw's driveway. It's comforting because it's part of my childhood but also just the quintessential southern Indiana country view.

2nd Anniversary

Wyatt and I celebrated our second anniversary at the end of April.  Truth be known, we don't actually know when exactly we officially started dating.  We have a general idea of the time frame though so we just decided to pick a weekend and devote it to our anniversary.  We decided we'd forego gifts and just take a day trip or a quick weekend trip somewhere.  My original suggestion was a trip up to the dunes but as the weekend drew nearer it was apparent it was going to be quite chilly up there.  We decided on Louisville for the weekend.  Not only do we (I) really love Louisville, but it also has some special sentimental value as well.

We got up and left in time to arrive to the Lou for lunch.  Wyatt had made us dinner reservations at Marketplace Restaurant in Theater Square for Saturday night so I suggested one of my favorites that I was sure Wyatt would love for lunch.  We made our way to Marks Feed Store on Bardstown Road (sadly my absolute favorite store ever, Ear X Tacy, is no longer next door). Lunch was a success! After lunch we drove around Cherokee Park.  I don't know how I managed to miss this park for so long.  It was absolutely wonderful and I just loved the surrounding neighborhood.  I could definitely day dream about living next to the park like that.  After that I got to go to the Peppermint Palm at the Vogue.  What more is there to say?  It is a Lilly Pulitzer.  I was in heaven.  I had fun trying on a few items I have been lusting over and even got a skort I had been eyeing from the spring line on sale!

We headed over to NuLu and went in a couple of shops, Why Louisville and Scout, and then had a drink at Garage Bar.  We went and checked into our hotel and freshened up before dinner.  We had another drink outside at BBC across the street from our restaurant and enjoyed the perfect weather!  At dinner we got truffle fries as an appetizer.  Our waiter warned us that they were evil.  We quickly learned why.  They were so delicious and there were so many but it was hard to stop eating them.  Luckily our food came out shortly after.  Wyatt got the 48 hour short rib and I got the housemade ricotta gnocchi.  Mine was heavenly and Wyatt enjoyed all of his as well.

The following day we went and had lunch and a good visit with Wyatt's grandma, Judy, in Jeffersonville.  Another perfect weather day.  We had lunch outside on the river with the Louisville skyline as the backdrop.  Perfect ending to a wonderful weekend.
