Golden Hour Picnic

Wyatt and I have been going to Clegg Gardens a couple times a year since we first started dating.  We've gone during spring, summer, and fall.  This week we decided to take a picnic and have dinner at one of the overlooks.  We grabbed some sandwiches from a deli on our way over and enjoyed a meal al fresco.  We could not have asked for better weather.  It was the perfect temperature and our timing was just right to put us there during the"golden hour."

We stopped for ice cream on our way home to end the perfect little date night.

Clegg Memorial Garden

Since the weather has been so nice and we practically jumped into summer without much spring, we decided to go spend some time at one of our favorite spots a couple weekends ago.  We love Clegg Memorial Garden here in town. It's one of our favorite spots and we try to get out there each season (except winter).

We missed most of the blooming daffodils but the trees are leafed out and the whole surrounding area is just so peaceful and pretty.  We took some sandwiches and had dinner at one of the over looks on the trails.  It was a nice night out so it was lovely.

Saturday on the Farm

Wyatt came to spend the weekend in Washington this past weekend.  On Saturday we finally got around to our picnic at the Grunden Farm (one of my Papaw's farms).  We tried to take a picnic lunch there last summer but there was a tree down in the drive when we got part of the way back so we had to turn around.  We stopped and picked up some sandwiches and other goodies on our way out of town and headed for the farm on Saturday.  It was a gorgeous afternoon to get outside for a while.  We ate our lunch and walked around a little bit and just enjoyed being outdoors in such pretty landscapes.

When we decided to hit the road, we drove over to West Baden [pronounced Bay-den not Baa-den ;)] and walked around the grounds for a bit.  I showed Wyatt the grandness that is the West Baden Springs Hotel Atrium because he had never been there before.

It was a nice little escape from the norm with just a short trip but felt like we were somewhere else entirely.  It was a very relaxing day (re: weekend).
